THE LAST PHOTOGRAPHS OF SHARON TATE

From the Collection of John Aes-Nihil

February 3 - 26, 2005

CLAIR OBSCUR GALLERY is proud to present a collection of rare photographs of actress Sharon Tate. Sharon Tate's first taste of fame came at the American School in Vicenza, Italy, where she was voted Homecoming Queen. 30 years later, Manson Family Movies was shown there. Her first movie role after bit parts in The Beverly Hillbillies, The Man From UNCLE, Mr. Ed and even Rosemary's Baby was13 or Eye of the Devil. She portrayed a generational witch who could cause her victims to step off the terrace of her castle and plunge to their death. Rumor has it that she joined a Satanic Cult to perfect her portrayal. She starred in 3 films in 1967- Valley of the Dolls, Don't Make Waves and The Fearless Vampire Killers. In 1969 she appeared in The Wrecking Crew and in her last film entitled 13 Chairs. A portion of the photos featured in the exhibition will be from slides taken by Jay Sebring and Voyteck Frykowsky of Sharon, and of each other both with Sharon and alone. These photos were taken during the first week of August 1969 literally days before all 3 were murdered by Tex Watson and the "Manson Girls". Roman Polanski took the second group of photos on the set of The Fearless Vampire Killers. Unlike the stills taken for Playboy on an indoor set, these were taken of a nude Sharon in the snow. The third series of photos taken by the LAPD will be shown in a separate room in the gallery, for the faint of heart.
